Emergency Roof Repairs
Many a time, you may encounter a situation where
you have to opt for emergency roof repairs to
prevent damage to any other structure close to the
roof. This situation usually arises due to serious
weather conditions that damages roofs made of
inferior materials and built in an inappropriate
style. If, for any reason, you are unable to get a
good contractor to do the job, you must follow some
emergency procedures immediately to minimize damage.
It is highly recommended to have plastic sheeting
handy all the time. Under emergency roof repairs
situations, until you get a contractor, you can
protect the interior of your home by preventing the
water from spreading to other areas in your home.
Identify the problem area by first examining the
flush and the drains. Most of the time, the problem
can be resolved by just cleaning the scuppers of
debris.
From the interior of your home, identify the area on
the roof where there is water seepage. Then go to
the roof to identify the source of leak by examining
the flushing close to the leak. Ballast the flushing
and examine the surface for splits, punctures or
cuts before initiating the roof repairs procedure.
Keep roof tapes and sealants handy all the time as
they are indispensable for emergency procedures. Use
a glass cleaner or alcohol to clean the membrane
before drying the surface with the help of a splice
cleaner.
Use duct tape for roof repairs to temporarily patch
affected areas if you are dealing with PVC as these
will not stick to filthy and damp surfaces.
